Sprains and Strains versus more serious injury

Sprains and Strains are common injuries, likely from either an acute injury, or an overuse of a particular muscle or ligament.  Most are self limited, but there are some signs and symptoms you should look out for to determine if something more serious is going on.

You should see a Medical Professional if any of the following occur:

  • Can't walk more than four steps without significant pain
  • Can't move the affected joint
  • Have numbness in any part of the injured area
  • See redness or red streaks spreading out from the injury
The Medical staff will take your medical history, discuss how, when and where the symptoms began, examine you, and may take an X-Ray.

Sometimes referral to an Orthopedic Specialist, Physical Therapy, or Chiropractor is necessary.

If you live near Union County, New Jersey, visit MD Care to evaluate your injury.
